Acquisition of Liquid Resize by onOne Software

                We are happy to announce that onOne Software acquired Liquid Resize.
onOne Software will continue the development of this re-targeting software - they plan a free public Beta soon, and a Photoshop plug-in will follow (see the press release for details).

We want to thank everyone who contributed to the development of Liquid Resize by providing ideas, feedback, donations etc. We passed all your feature requests on to onOne Software, thus you can e.g. expect to see that Mac version so many people have asked for soon.
Kind regards, Ramin & Irmgard

                Version 04.1 (041_Retarget_win.zip) for Windows fixes the problem some people had, since the required DLLs for multi-processing were not included in the previous version.

                Finally the new version is online!

Implemented:
* The marking of areas that should be protected or deleted (red and green areas in the original video) - so that you can get better resizing results on images that have a high contrast throughout the picture.
* multi-core processor support to speed up the calculation.
* Image zooming.

Still to come:
* image enlargement (extrapolation).
Update on current progress

                Hi everyone,

                Since we havn't published a new version for a few days, I thought I'd share with you what we're currently working on and also answer some of the website comments.

At the moment, we're trying to make the following work:
* The marking of areas that should be protected or deleted (red and green areas in the original video) - so that you can get better resizing results on images that have a high contrast throughout the picture.
* We're also investigating multi-core processor support to speed up the calculation.
* After that, we'll probably tackle image enlargement (extrapolation).

Concerning some of the comments we received on the website:
* As stated before, we will decide about publishing the code (and the license) when the software becomes more stable aka feature complete, because currently the underlying structures are prone to substantial changes as we add new feature. And we'll have to do some cleanup and commenting before this code can become public ;-)
* Using the application for videos is a nice idea, but I do not think it makes sense to start with that before we're satisfied with what it does to still images.
* We'll think about a Mac version...

Cheers, Ramin and Irmgard

Finally version 0.1 can be downloaded, the main goal was to optimize the seam removal, so the user interface is still ugly, but you get an idea. Stay tuned for the next versions, where vertical resizing and maybe some more features will be added.
